Total estimated cost less than £58,000

Cost of Working.—Felton wheel driving ele-ctric generator day and night, requiring no supervision beyond oiling and cleaning; gas plant used as standby only, worked lor 8 'hours once a week, to keep in running order; one skilled electrician, only required in charge of plant, salary £250 per annum/allowance for use of gas plant occasionally, £l5O per annum, including oil and stores. Total. estimated cost of running the.- power station as proposed, £4OO -per annum. Repairs and depreciation of plant would probably be covered by £l5O per annum.

I consider tho estimate given for all the plant and works are very full. The electrical estimates were cheeked for me by an electrical export, whose estimate was very much below -hat i gave—viz., £BOOO. F. W. MARCHANT, M. Inst. C.E. Timaru, 17th June, 1909.
