QUARTERLY AIEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Methodist Church officials was held in the church iHsi n-ight, tlie ltev. J. A. Lo-, chore presiding. The ‘ baiauce-uliest was considered most satisfactory, there being a slight credit in *poite of heavy extra expenditure (luring the quarter. ' Satisfactory 'reports were received concerning the various Church activities. Mention was made of the limited accommodation there was for the Sunday School work, and a scheme brought forward by the Trustees for building additions to the schoolroom was approved by the meeting. At the request ol tuo New Zealand Conference, the meeting considered the proposal to separate tPo New Zealand from the Australasia:i Conference, and after discussion, a unanimous vote was given in favor of continuing the connection with Australia. It was announced that arrangements were being made for an early visit of a deputation to push on the Church Home Mission work, the deputy ' being the Rev. A. C. Lawry, of Napier, _ who will probably conduct services on a Sunday with.' midweek meetings also. Arrangements were made for. the holding of a Church "At Home” in tlie near future, there being a desire to draw the Methodists of the town together to talk over the Church work. Satisfaction was expressed at the progress which tlie Church is making and at the hopeful signs for the future.
