Lord Curzon initiated a debate in the House of Lords'on the question of Lord 'Kitchener’s position in India. He predicted that the system would break down. The duties thrown upon the 'Commander-imChief would break a Napoleon. Lord Morley denied charges that Lord Kitchened had acted autocratically. He had shown an unsurpassed gift of, military, administration and. knowledge.
