INCREASE IN ESTATE DUTIES. BRITISH AND AUSTRALIAN RETURNS. United Piiess Association —Cor.yuiGiiT. LONDON, July 1. Tlie quarterly revenue was £31,695,000, Customs contributing £7,961,000, excise £6,822,000, stamps. £1,825,000. Two noticeable features were that-the property income tax yielded £3,286,000' a decrease of £914,000, and estate duties yielded £6,464,000, an increase of £2,124,000. BRISBANE, July 2. The revenue for the year was £4,766,100, an increase of £277,000. The expenditure was £4,756,000. MELBOURNE, July 1. The Federal revenue for the year was £14,350,460, a. decrease of £643,614. Customs excise yielded £10,843,493, and the Post Office £3,410,000. The expenditure was £6,420,000. The to* tal amount returned to the States was £7,930,350, a decrease of £928,650, but in the meantime 'the Commonwealth has taken, over and ear-marked portions of the returns for the old-age. pensions.
(Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 2. The Customs revenue collected at this port in June was £3245, as against £2867 in June last year.
