THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE (Per Press Association f WELLINGTON, July 2. The Hon. T. Mackenzie, Minister of Agriculture, left Wellington for Auckland by the Main Trunk line to-day. MENDELSSOHN CENTENARY. PALMERSTON N., July 2. The Mendelssohn centenary was celebrated here last night by a performance by the Palmerston North Chora! Society of St. Paul under the baton of Maurice Cohen, in the presence of a large audience, including Lady Plunket. The proceeds are to be devoted to the Plunket Nurse and District Nurse Funds. A very fine performance was given, about 200 participating. Thesoloists were Messrs Hill and Parkes '(Wellington), Mesdames Bath and Harper. and Miss Drewe (Palmerston North). LADY PLUNKET FOR AUCKLAND. Lady Plunket, Miss Hill, and family go to Auckland to-day to reside at theGovernment House there until the end of September. Lord plunket is expected to join them from Cook Islands on the 6th or 7th' inst. The party subsequently returns to the Palmerston North residence, after being in Wellington during the. session.
