STATEMENT BY MR. BISHOP. (rer Press Association.) 1 DUNEDIN, July oWith reference to the scope of wxe Police Commission, Mr. Bishop, informed a reporter to-night that although he was' prohibited from inouirmg into the immediate circumstances leading the dismisal of any members, he . that he was entitled to make ecquine.* as to how these men obtained admis sion to the force and their caieer ' in it. He intended to make a personal examination of the record of eveiy in the force, besides having before ham such oral evidence as would be called or volunteered. He would have a complete record of every man in the force, and with. reference to the suggestionof political influence he would call roi such letters as had been written to the heads of the Police Department.
