GREAT SEND-OFF ATv ROTORUA. [Pub Press Association.j AUCKLAND, July o. A party of 40 natives left Rotorua by this morning’s train for Wellington, en route for America, where they are to perform for nine months at the New York Hippodrome. They were given a great send-off, many thousands assembling at the railway station. All the shops were closed to permit of the whole town witnessing the departure. The company will first go to Tahiti. Then they sail from there by the Mariposa for'San Francisco, being due ot the latter place about the 31st. Ihe journey to New York will occupy about a week longer. Mi. Mcßride, the representative of the New York Hippodrome,' is well satisfied with the seleetiori made, and is confident that the natives will make a big hit. The men are of a fine stalwart class, and the poi girls are charming. Mr. W. Farmer iV’hyte, late of the “New Zealand Herald,” accompanies the company as manager, and he expresses himself as more than satisfied with the selection.
