FATAL FIRES
THE ELTHAM ACCIDENT—TWO DEATHS. (Pick '’aess .association. ELTHAM, July 5. Mrs. Bills, one of the victims of the burning accident on Saturday, died at 7.30 on Saturday night. The two girls, who were, also burned, were - removed to Hawera hospital yesterday. Deceased was 37 years of age, and leaves a widower and five children. Later. —News has been received of the death of the youngest girl Bills, aged 4, in the Hawera Hospital, at 3 o’clock this morning. The elder girl (aged 11) is in a very serious condition. The Mayor of Eltham is making an appeal to the public on behalf of Bills, who is rendered penniless by the fire, besides losing his wife and child.
THE BLENHEIM TRAGEDY
BLENHEIM, - July 5. The inquest on the bodies of Mrs. Joseph Taylor and her two children, burned in Friday night’s fire, opened yesterday. The evidence failed to show liow the outbreak originated. The inquest was adjourned till Friday in the hope of Taylor being able to appear. At present he has no recollection of anything connected with the fire.
