THE HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLEGRAM. [Per Press AsfociationJ WELLINGTON, July 5. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London, July 3rd, states: The mutton market is overstocked and depressed. New Zealand arrivals during the last fortnight totalled 25,500 carcases. Stocks are accumulating and there is no room in tho store for more. Steamers cannot discharge, being used as stores. Canterbury mutton is at 2fd, North Island 2§d. Similar remarks apply to thelamb market. Canterbury iamb :s at 4d, North Island 3|d. The arrivals for the six months this year are: Mutton 1,000,000 carcases, and lamb 550,000 carcases in. excess of the same period for last year. ✓ The beef market remains firm. The supplies of American chilled beef are small. New Zealand hindquarters are quoted at 4|d, forequarters "3d. The. butter market is quiet, but firm. New Zealand supplies are practically exhausted. Choicest New Zealand is at 106 s fid, Australian 100 s, Danish 110 s, Siberian 100 s. The cheese, market is slightly weaker, with less demand. New Zealand is at 595, Canadian. 5Ss. The hemp market is steady, with moderate inquiry. New Zealand good fair grade on spot £22. fair current Manila on spot £22 10s: July to Aug-ust-shipments New Zealand good fair quality £23, fait, grade £2l 15s, failcurrent Manila £22. The Manila output is 28.000 bales, and stock 200 tons. The wheat market remains firm, at last quotation. New Zealand longberried is at 46s fid, shortberried 455. The oat market is firm. Prices continue to advance. New Zealand oats short sparrowbills, ex granary, on spot, per quarter of 3201 b, 20s. The bean market is active, with good demand. Supplies do not meet requirements. New Zealand beans, old crop, per 5041 b, 36s fid. The peas market is firm owing to reduced supplies. New Zealand oeas. partridge, per oOflb, 49s fid; peas, blue, per 5041 b, 35s fid. The. wool market is quiet, but steady. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet. Buyers are not keen to do business.. The average price, of bright clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed, weighing 171 b per bushel, on spot, is 665. The River Plate shipments arriving during June were: London, mutton 50,487 carcases; lamb, 33,504 careases. Liverpool, mutton 164,679 eareases; lamb. 15.912 carcases. Hull, mutton, 5759: Limb, 1824._ Newcastle, mutton, 9912; lamb, 357. Cardiff, mutton 13,938; lamb, nil.
