Presdinet Taft, at Plattsburg, in connection with the Lake Champlain celebrations, reviewed the Greys, the Foot Guards, and the Fifth Royal Canadian Highlanders. He remarked at a bam quet that the. Canadian people were destined to be a great and prosperous ! people, of whose prosperity and great- ! ness Americans were great enough not to be. jealous of, but to welcome it. The speakers included the Hon. R. Lemieux (Canadian Postmaster-Gener-al) and the Right Hon. J. Bryce (British ambassador at Washington).
