Alacartney, Carkeek, Hartigan, Whitty, and Layer were omitted from the Australian team. Taylor and Bale replaced Lyttelton and Gaukrodger in the -Worcestershire match. AlacAlister and Bardsley were the first batsmen, and were soon busy. They knocked up 50 runs in 45 minutes, despite of three bowling changes. The first wicket w-ent 'for 62. Mac Alister was taken at slip. He gave a chance at 22 off Pearson. He clayed excellent cricket. Bardsley batted for 80 minutes. He was taken at the wicket. Two for 88. Ransford and Trumper added 10. The latter was dismissed through playing back to Cuffe. The score at luncheon time was three for 112. Gregory played one of -Hayward’s on to the off foot, and gave a sharp chance to Bache off Cuffe when he had scored 16. Four for 157. For the fifth wicket, Hansford and Armstrong added 106. Then Armstrong was easily stumped by Bale. He played sound all-round cricket. Ransford kept the field moving,, till the Victorian, hitting out .at Hayward, met his fate in a similar way to Armstrong. He batted 210 minutes, playing an excellent, chance-less, free, and finished innings. He made the century in 190 minutes. Six for 286. Noble and Hopkins treated the bowling with freedom. INTER-UNIVERSITY CRICKET. OXFORD v. CAMBRIDGE. The Oxford v. Cambridge cricket match resulted in a draw. Three Australian students played for Oxford.
