(Received July 11, 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, July 10
M. Jean Jaures (Socialist) moved in the French Chamber of Deputies that it be an instruction to the Government to promote an international conference with the view of gradually arranging a simultaneous (?universal). Customs tariff.
M. Ouppi, Minister of Commerce, described the idea as generous, but, perhaps, chimerical. Nevertheless, 'the Government would not oppose the motion, which was carried by a large majority. Another motion to refer the matter to a committee was lost.
