CYCLING.
SUNDAY RACING. The chief attraction at the. meeting at the Buffalo Velodrome, Paris, on May 16 was a French-American- sprint match between Dupre and Hourlier, representing France, and De Mara and Major Taylor, representing America. Additional interest attached to the event as it marked Taylor’s first appearance as regards Sunday racing. In the- first race .Hourlier heat De Mara by a wheel, and then Taylor beat HourHer by a length. Dupre beat De Mara by. half a length and Taylor finished inches in front of Dupre, but was disqualified for boring. The final test saw all four start together, Dupre finishing first, De Mara second, Hourlier third, and Taylor last. Taylor was shut in, and as the track was damp on the outside he preferred to take no risks. Taylor had only been in Paris a .week before he raced, and he was expected to give a better showing later on. ,
