PROMISES P,Y MR LLOYD-GEORGE AGRICULTURAL LAND EXEMPT FROM NEW TAXES. United Press Assoow.tion —Copyright LONDON, July 14. In the House of Commons, Mr LloydGeorge, Chancellor of the Exchequer, promised to exempt from new taxes all purely agricultural land, unless the value passes into another category, such as a building; also to .exempt holdings under the value of £6OO. \ AN IMPORTANT AMENDMENT, •COMPULSORY REGISTRATION OF TITLES. "LONDON, July 15. During the Budget debate, Mr LloydGeorge accepted an amendment by Mr W. H. Dickinson, Liberal member for St. Pancras North, that particulars should he supplied in every case of land transfer whether or not duty is due, -and thus give, the country an up-to-date land register. Mr. Balfour, amid Laborite interruptions, strenuously protested against the new turn of. affairs,, namely, the transformation of the Bill into a measure, for the compulsory registration of titles. He defied any constitutional lawyer to say that such a change by an amendment was legitimate.

Mr. Lloyd-George replied that conveyances and leases were already under the cognisance of Somerset House, and it would only be necessary in the future to add a few particulars. Mr. Dickinson’s amendment was carried by 2.18-to 101.
