The New Alpine mine manager reports for the week ending 14th July as follows :—Work was confined to btoping above No. 14 level. In the stope the reef remains a good size. In No. 5 stope the reef measured lift in width before we got to the footwall, and in No. 6 stope coming north we hav« nine feet of reef and no footwall. lit the other stopee the reef remains unchanged. In No. 6 stope going south, the reef has not cut out yet. It is 2ft 3in in width opening out overhead. Both cages were overhauled and are now in good repair. A start was mad* to-day to extend the level. Two hundred and six tons were paddocked during the week. A NEW DISCOVERY AT THE GREY. Good gold has been struck at the head of Flowery Creek, and the prosnects gave as much as idwt to the dish. The ground is situated adjacent to the south of Kelly’s Terrace drainage tunnel and close to the site of Messrs Rhodda and Peebles’ old sawmill, and it is said that there is a considerable extent of new country at the hack of it. Before six o’clock last eveningseventeen claims had been pegged out., covering an area of over eleven acres. Kelly’s Terraco drainage tunnel contractors have had a special claim pegged out for some time in close proximity to the find. Further developments will be anxiously awaited.
