Mr C. Hood Williams,, secretary of the Lyttelton Harbor Board, a position he has held for a great many years, has been ill for some time, and though he is recovering, he has been recommended to take a long sea voyage. The Board has granted him six months leave on full pay, expressing keen, appreciation of his valuable services. Dr Nisbet, of First Church, Dunedin, has been granted leave of absence from the Dunedin Presbytery for two months, to visit Australia, chiefly for health reasons. He leaves for the Commonwealth next week. Dr Watt has been appointed Moderator of the FirstChurch Session, in his absence. Dr Nisbet has also been granted ninemonths’ leave of absence from March next bv the. First Church Deacons Court, in order that lio may pay a visit to tho Home Country. Dr. B. Mocre-Sampson, who has resigned the appointment of house surgeon at the Gisborne hospital, has, it is understood, received an appointment in the mental department of the Melbourne hospital. _ Dr. Frengiey, of the Health Department arrives this morning to report to the Borough Council on the subject of drainage for Gisborne. It is understood that Mr. William Pettie will be nominated for a third term as President of the Gisborne Bowling Club when the annual meeting of that body takes place on July 29th, a large number of members, including the whole of the committee, having expressed a wish that he should continue, in the position.^ Mr. H. Tiffen lias decided to leave the Motu district to settle in the Hawke’s Bay district, where he Has acquired a valuable station property. In all probability Mr. Tiffen will sit as a member of tlie Waikohu County Council for the last time at the ineeting to be. hold in August. The Mayor (Mr. W. D. Lvsnar) is expected to return from South by the s.s. Talline this morning.
