SHIPPING DISASTER.
STEAMER COLLIDES WITH SUBMARINE. TWELVE MEN DROWNED. United Pukss Assv.ciATr.oN —CorTniGtiT. LONDON, July 15. A steamer collided with the submarine that was sunk. Lieutenants Brodie Watkins were rescued. Twelve men were drowned. The submarines "were proceeding to the Thames for the approaching spectacle of 150 warships off the Nore. Submarine Cl 7 remained afloat. DETAILS OF THE DISASTER. COLLISION AT MIDNIGHT IN DENSE FOG. (Received July 16, 9.10 p.m.) LONDON. July 16. The cargo steamer Eddystone, for Hull, in a dense fag off the Norfolk coast ran among the submarines at midnight, colliding with Cll, simultaneously Cl 6 and Cl 7 mutually collided in endeavoring to avoid the Eddystone. Cl 7 was badly damaged.
