TO-DAY’S MATCHES. Tho Rugby Union football matches to be. played to-day are as follows:. — On Victoria Domain—l.4s p.m., challenge match 3 Takitimu v, Y.M.C.A.; thirds match. Defence. Cadets v. Y.M.C.A.; 3 p.m., senior match United v. Kaiti-City; junior match; United v. Y.M.C.A. At Mr. G. Witters’ jjaddock, Makauri.—3 p.m.j senior match, Te Kura v. Makauri. The team to represent Te Kuna against Makauri will be: Karauria; J. King, Pera, Matengaro, T. King, Tuhoe, Bone, Puka, S. Ruru, K. King, Mauhana, Eru, T. Richmond, H. King, and Mohi; emergencies, Wi Haronga, J. Tekere, and Tu Haapu. The Kaiti-City senior team will be finally chosen from the following: C. Hepburn, Tocker, Pufiett, Grinlinton, Row© (captain), Flatman, Morse, Stagpoole, Delaney, Shepherd, Beach, Nicolas, Hansen, McKenzie, Swain, Oman, Hickey, Roche, and P. Fromm. THE PROPOSED REPRESENTATIVE TEAM. The Poverty Bay Rugby Union notifies to players selected to go into training in connection with the representative team’s tour, that Mr. G. H._!Lysnar’s Hall, Read’s Quay; is available for practice. All players must attend on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights, at 7.30 (commencing on Monday next, 19th inst.) in each week until the representatives have been finally .All footballers will oblige by attending to give a helping hand. NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. [Pan Press Association.! WELLINGTON, July 16. A special meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held this afternoon. Objections for various reasons to the date or location of the North v. South Island match were received from the Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Westland, Canterbury, Poverty Bay, and Marlborough Unions, other dates more convenient to thesa unions being suggested. it was pointed out that to please everybody there would be no date until the 28th September. Members agreed that this was too late. The question was left in the hands of a committee of three to consider the matter and report at the next meeting. , . An objection by the Canterbury Union to the location of the interIsiand match was also left m the hands of the committee for a report. W. Treweek, Nelson, who had acted ■as gate keeper in Nelson, was rem- ' stated as an amateur.
