THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REDUCTION. PENNY A WORD LAND CHARGES. United Press Association— Cofthight. MELBOURNE, July 17. The/Federal Government cabled to the Pacific Board that it was unable to reduce the land charges for press messages to -J-d as suggested, but would reduce them to Id a word. (Per Press Association.) WAKAPUAKA, July 17. The superintendent of the Eastern Extension Company here received, this morning, confirmation of the reduction of press cable rates. He only awaits the Government’s indication of their share to bring the cheaper rates into force.
