TE KARAKA RACING CLUB. The committee of the Te Karaka Racing Club met at the Rangatira Hotel,"" Te Karaka, after, the annual meeting, on Friday night, when Mr. J. A. Caesar was elected chairman of committee, and Mr. A. M. Lewis vicechairman. Mr. P. J. Sefton was elected , honorary secretary to the club, Mr. F. McKenzie starter,, and’' Mr. C. J. Bennett handicapper. Messrs D. J. Barry, F. Benson, M. Emanuel, E. F. Krause, and H. Ruru were appointed stewards, and Messrs. Allen, Krause, Lewis and Crimmins as ground committee. Mr. -A. Devery was appointed clerk of the course, and Mr. F. Evinson clerk of scales. The Committee decided to hold the annual race meeting on January Ist, and to submit a programme of seven events of a total value of £l7O, an increase of £2O upon the amount of the stakes paid last year. It was decided to delete the Handicap Trot and Station Hack race from the programme and to substitute a Ladies’ Bracelet Handicap for gentlemen riders, and a Welter Handicap. The following will be the programme: —Flying Handicap' of ,t,25, 6 furlongs; Hack Scurry of £2O, 4 furlongs; Ladies’ Bracelet Handicap of £ls, one mile; Acland Hood Handicap of £4O, 11miles ; Hack Welter of £25, 7 furlongs ; Electric Handicap of £2O, 5 furlongsand the Final Handicap of £25, one mile. WELLINGTON R.C. WINTER ? MEETING. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 17. The Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting was opened to-day in fine weather. The going was heavy, and the attendance fair. Nineteen bookmakers were licensed. The sum of £9904 passed through the. totalisat-or, against £7758 last year. The following were the results of the racing: Stewards’ Handicap, of 130sovs, 7 furlongs.—St. Bill 9.10, 1; Sweet Angelus 9.11, 2; San Fernando 9.7, 3. Also- started: Martyrium, Simplex, Seaman, Longner, Wimmera, and Wat'aari. St. Bill led throughout, and won by a neck. Time, lmin 38 3-ssec. Miramar Handicap, of lOOsovs, 7 furlongs.—King’s Prize 10.0, 1; Marathon 9.12, 2; Thetis 9.5, 3. Also started: Passive, Gold Bird, Llanwern, Splash, and Sealer. There was a slashing finish between the placed horses, heads separating them. Time, lmin 39sec. Peninsula Hurdles Handicap, of 100 sovs., If miles.—Rendrdck 10.0, 1; Waione 9.5, 2; Polyanthus 9.13, 3. Also started: Wirrall, Aotea, Coy, Black Squall, Yosami, and Silken Rein. Wirral led for a mile and a quarter, where Rendrock took charge and won easily by six lengths, two lengtlrs between second and third. Time, 3min 29 3~ssec. FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB

FEILDING, July 17. At the annual meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club last night the annual report stated that the totalisator receipts showed a falling off of £19,000 for the year, as compared with the previous year, partly caused by the presence of bookmakers.
