In the sculling championship of Australia, stakes £2OO, rowed on the Parramatta River, Pearce defeated Pitched by four lengths. Mitchell got slightly the best of the start. Pearce quickly overhauled him, and went to the front. Holding his opponent easily, he led throughout, and won by four lengths. Mitchell made a game but unavailing effort towards the close, and finished badly pumped. Time, 23min 3sec.
