BOWLING.
GISBORNE FLUB. Several' members of the Gisborne' Bowling Club assembled on the club s green on Saturday afternoon, when some very enjoyable play took place. The principal game was a rink match in which Roberston, Spencer, Wootton, and T. Clarkson (skip); beat Boulton, W Pettie, Rateliffe, and Kyme (skip) by 22 to 15. In a doubles match, Mackintosh. and Ponsford against Ainbridgo and Ifwerson, it was agreed to play 25 heads, and at the conclusion of these the score stood.- —Ponsford 23, Ifwerson 21. TURANGANUI CLUB. A special meeting of the committee of the. Turanganui Bowling Club' was held on. the green on Saturday afternoon, there being present: Messrs W. Bruce (president), J. Colley, M. QNasmith, senr., J. Jeune, J. P. Williams, M. G. Nasmith, -junr., and W. 0. Skeet (secretary). The matter for consideration was the proposed removal of tho pavilion on to the recently-acquired section. Tho committee had thoroughly gone ove:r the ground, and it was unanimously resolved to shift the pavilion as suggested, together, with all appurtenances. Three tenders were received for ill© work; tli© lowest; that of/ fekeot Bros., at £l9, being accepted.. It was also resolved that an iron fence be erected immediately at one end of the newly-acquired section. -Mr. J. Jeune was empowered to close with an offer of earth for the new green, if such earth was suitable. The questions of extending the pavilion to include an afternoon tea room, the erection, of a caretaker’s shed, and the beautifying of the green were brought up, but were deferred till the next meeting.
