AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES. {Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 17. The semi-final of the Auckland Hockey Association’s senior grade championships was played to-day, when United beat Grafton by nine goals to ml, ancl ! University and Auckland drew, each side notching a goal. Auckland and United have now 14 points each to their credit, and the final will he played at Remuera next Saturday. j THE AUCKLAND TEAM’S TOUR. The southern tour of the Auckland representative team has now been finally settled. The team will play Taranaki at Auckland on Saturday, August 7th, for the championship challenge shield, and will leave for the south on Tuesday, August 10th, play Wanganui on Thursday, August 12, Wellington on August 14, Canterbury on August 19, Dunedin on August 21, Southland (at Invercargill) on 'August -o, and Manawatu (at Palmerston North). on August 28, returning to Auckland by the Main. Trunk line on the morning or Sunday, August 29. Matches cannot be played with Nelson and Taranaki owing to the boat arrangements proving unsuitable. „ , The New Zealand Hockey Association has notified the Auckland body that.no matches other than the Taranaki match will have to be played before the. southern tour is made, providing that the remaining challengers for the shield are played m September. Acting on this decision the local AssoI ciation has set apart the following i dates for shield fixtures: September | 4th, Thames; September 11th, Wellmgi ton; September 18th, Manawatu; September 25th, Hawke’s Bay.
