THE TONGARIRO’S PASSENGERS

WELLINGTON, Jusy 20. Two hundred and fifteen passengers are due to reach New Zealand about the middle of next week by the Tongariro. Of these 181 are travelling third class. The number of assisted immigrants on board are 74, of whom 25 are children, 30 are tvomen, and only* 19 are men. Tire assisted people include 37 who are nominated in New Zealand. Of these seven are men who have work awaiting them, 12 are women, and 18 are children. Among the women 18 are described as domestics and as wives travelling out to rejoin their husbands. The men include eight farmers, seven farm laborers, and a shepherd. One farmer brings £9OO with him, another £4OO, and another £3OU.
