PREMIER’S POLICY SPEECH.
GREAT DEVELOPMENT,FORESHADOWED. United Press Association —Copyright PERTH, July 21. The Premier, in. his policy speech, referred to the deficit last year of £102,000. The area under crop, he said, increased by 70,000 acres, applications bad been received for 2,000,000 acres of land. The goldfields production was £6,999,000 as compared with £7,210,000 in the previous year. The decrease was due to the treatment of lower grade ores, but the industry was sound and. profitable. He foreshadowed large railway development, liberalisation of the Legislative Council qualification, a Redistribution of Seats Bill on a population basis, and a Dairying Bill on New Zealand lines.
