A furious attack was made upon the Spaniards at Melilla; the Arabs seeking to cut communication between tho town and the Spanish camp. The attack was repulsed, with heavy loss. The Spanish lost ten men killed and 30 wounded.

The Government has decided to send reinforcements from Madrid-

Public opinion at Madrid opposes the war, and excited demonstrations have occurred in several parts of the city. Several women invaded tho railway station seeking to hinder the departure of the troops.
