Sir Frederick' Holder, Speaker of the House, has died suddenly. He had just 'previously vacated the chair, and while talking to the Minister of Home Affairs, fell forward on tho floor of the House. Several medical members immediately rendered assistance, and ho was removed to his room, suffering from haemmorhage of the brain. The House immediately adjourned. He had been in his room most of the night while members were wrangling in committee over the Old Age Pensions Bill. For several days he d been disturbed over the way in which many members were conducting themselves. The difficulty which he has experienced in maintaining, order has been continual, and the persistent manner in which the proceedings have been interrupted has had an irritating effect upon him. Sir Frederick Holder lingered until late this afternoon, when he expired. A FAMOUS SCENIC ARTIST. SYDNEY, July 23. John Brunton, scenic artist is dead. [Mr. Brunton was one of the bestknown scenic artists in Australasia. He painted much of the scenery for the spectacular productions by J. C. Williamson, Bland Holt, and other famous theatrical managers.]
