INTERMENT AT ADELAIDE. A GREAT PUBLIC FUNERAL. United PfiF.ss AssociATioN—CorYiUGHT ADELAIDE, July 27. Tho remains of the late Sir F. Holder were accorded a great public funeral. (Received July 28, 1.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, July 27. The Federal House of Representatives adopted a motion, moved by Mi. Deakiny and seconded by Mr. Fishery appreciative of the late Sir F. W. Holder’s distinguished services, and adjourned till to-morrow out of respect for his memory.

Sir Frederick Holder was born in Happy Valley,South Australia, in 1850, and had been Sneaker of the Federal House of Renresentatives since its inception in 1901. He was twice Premier of South Australia, and left that position to enter the Federal House' of Representatives, in which he represented the South Australian constituency of Wakefield. Ho was knighted in 1902. According to John’s “Notable Australians,” in his earlier days he was a State schoolmaster in South Australia and afterwards ho was editor and proprietor of the Burra “Record. From 1887 to 1901 he represented Burra in the South Australian Legislative Assembly, and was a member of a number of Royal Commissions and Select Committees, ' including Intercolonial Freetrade and Pastoral Lands. He was Treasurer in tho Cockburn Atimstry, 1889-90; Premier and Treasurer, 1892; Commissioner of Public Works in Kingston Government, 1893-4, and Treasurer, 1894-9; Premier, Treasurer, and Alinister of Industry, December, 1899-Alay, 1901. He took a prominent part in the movement for Australian federal union, was a member of the Convention which framed the Commonwealth Constitution. 1897-8, and returned by the State of South Australia to the first House of Representatives. He had been a member of tho Council of the South Australian School of Alines and Industries since 1902 was a retired captain in the military force, a prominent office-bearer in the Methodist Church, and a preacher, also President of the South Australian Alliance from 1902 to 1904. -ady Holder is prominent in temperance and philanthropy, and in all movements for the advancement of women.
