—4! REPORTED BY FISHERMEN. , I Some fishermen on reaching port on Tuesday reported that while at sea on SuSav they came across what they suiiposed was sunken wrec^fS e * co of l the men yesterday made the Allowing report to Mr. Howie, Cohector of Customs at Gisborne: f t “I herewith send you a report ot some obstacle which I iouled dav 25th, wdiile out fishing. Ibe obstacle is well out of the bay, in. a lino with a course that the Homo liners would take to make Gisborne from Table Cape or coming from ooutn. Both I and my mate with our tackle, and straightened ou hooks with it. When we got our tack© clear it was then, as near as I couiu judge, with the swell that was running and half tide, between three and tour fathoms! or 20ft. It felt to us as thorn'll we were puding up a long wire and we came to the conclusion, that' it was a sunken wreck and upright, and that the wire was some of her rigging; so we thought it our duty, in the interests of shipping, to report the matter. The position and bearings , v chart are: Tuahme N.N.YV., Whurcongaonga W.S.W., sandy and mud bottom, 26 fathoms; position longitude 178 deg. 10mm. 45sccs. east, latitude 38deg. 50min. 40sec. south. Mr Howie has decided to forward the report to the Marine Department, and to recommend that either he or the Harbormaster, Captain Cumrmng. be authorised to investigate the supposed wreck and buoy the obstacle, pending further instructions.
