BOXING.
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION CONTESTS, [Pun Pukhs Association A WELLINGTON, July 29. The Wellington Town Hall was crowded with mc-n this evening to see the glove fights under the auspices of the Wellington Boxing Association. Many naval officers, police officers, and clergymen were present. Two of the sixround amateur bouts were good clean sporting goes, but the Carrns-Porter feather-weight affair ended suddenly in the second round, the referee giving the fight to Porter on a foul. I). Tailored beat D.. J. Parry with a good deal to spare in the welter fight, and W. A. Iggulden got away with F. Ivutner in the bantam after an exciting contest. The standard of boxing has marvellously improved at these contests, and science is in demand and is exhibited.
