The game was fast throughout, but owing to the high wind blowing, most of the play took place at tho Grey Street end. Some very nice passing took place on both sides, which made the game very open and free from ground play. Players are fast realising that it is better to pick up the ball hnd kick or pass on instead of knocking ‘along the ground. The .Rovers’ skipper won the toss, and kicked to the
Grey Street goal. During, the first quarter his side put on 4 goals 5 belauds to the Australs* 2 behinds. The Rovers.soon bad the leather in their territory,, and shortly after- the bounce began to score, notching for tho quarter 3 goals 2 behinds, to the Australs’ 2 behinds. The Australs in the last 'quarter put great vim into the game, and played well, their handball and pas-sing-being decidedly good. ' Rovers’ backs, who were on the defensive, were playing a sterling game, and were intent on keeping the advantage they had gained. However, with the aid of a high wind, Australs were successful in increasing; their score by 4 goals 6 behinds. The Rovers added 1 goal 1. behind, thus running out winners by 10 points. The final scores were : Rovers, 9 goals 10 behinds (64 points); Australs, 7 goals ,12 behinds (54 points).
