CUSTOMS DUTIES.

MONTHLY RETURNS

The customs duties collected at the port of Gisborne during the month of July were:—Spirits £1795 7s, cigarettes £332 10s, tobacco £483 10s 6d, wines £57 12s sd, beer £2B, goods by weight £94 19s 9d, goods.ad valorem genend tariff £438 7s lOd, preferential tariff £34 10s sd, other duties £25 2s 6d, total £3290 0s od. For the corresponding month last year £3490 6s 4d was collected. The excise duty for the month amounted to £IOB 6s. The following were the principal exports of New Zealand produce from this port for the month of July:—Beef, 15,289 cwt., £15,842; mutton, 20,542 carcases, 9919 cwt., £10,543; lamb, 7286 carcases. 2123 cwt., £3282; mut--ton, joints, 265 cwt., £309; hides, 2614, £3172; skins, 29,172, £2963; tallow, 218 tons, £4128; wool, 567,7001b5., £18,567. The duties collected during the week ending Saturday, July 31st. were:— Customs duties £483 1.2 s lOd, beer duty £24 14s, light dues £45 14s 6d, shinning fees £6 7s 6d, other receipts 6s 6d; total £560 15s 4d.
