PERSONAL.
Mr. W. IJ: Westbrook, who succeeds Mr. D. Carmody as Inspector of Factories at Gisborne, arrived on Saturday. Miss Mollhono left for Napier last evening to lead the orchestra for the World’s Picture Company, which is playing there. Miss Mcllhone will probably travel with the company for some months. Mr. Moorhouse, of the Government Tourist Department, arrived from the South on Saturday morning, and leaves by coach this morning for the Te Puia Springs in connection with the disposal of that property. Mr. Duncan Hepburn, who some time ago sustained a fracture of the leg through his horse falling with him in Upper Gladstone Read, will probably be able to leave the hospital to-day for his home.
After having been laid up for several weeks owing t-o a motor-ear accident, Mr. A. F. Kennedy is now able to be about again, and paid a couple of visits to town'during last week. Slight improvement is reported in the condition of Mr, F. Hall, of Gisborne, who for several days past has been lying rather seriously ill at the Royal Oak Hotel in "Wellington. Influenza, following on a sharp attack of gout, is said to have been the cause of Mr. Hall’s illness. The Rev. Father Ormond, who' lias been assisting the Rev. Father Lane at St. Mary’s Chapel for some time, leaves for Auckland on Wednesday te take up his new duties at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He wall be the recipient of a presentation in St. Mary’s Schoolroom to-morrow night. Miss Puflett, lately of the Gisborne School teaching staff, and who has received an appointment in the Port Ahuriri School, left for Napier by the s.s Tarawera this morning. Prior te her departure, Miss Puflett was farewelled by the teaching staff and was made the recipient of a set of silverbacked hair brushes and looking-glass. A pleasing ceremony t-ook place on Saturday night, when Mr. S. S. Rudrnan, of the Telegraph Department, and who has been transferred to) Napier, was farewelled by his friends. "• On behalf of the Civil Service Sports Association, Mr. R. F. Houlihan presented Mr. Rudman with a gentleman’s travelling companion, handsomely fitted. The recipient returned thanks, and tho remainder of a pleasant function took tho form of a musical evening. Mr. Rudman left for Napier last night.
