INVERCARCILL CUSTOMS RETURNS.

GENERAL DECREASE, BUT INCREASE ON SPIRITS.

[Pun Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, August 2. The-Customs-returns for July show a decrease of £297, as compared with the Customs revenue for July last year, and this despite the fact that the revenue from the importation of spirits shows an increase of £155. The falling ofl ! is in tobacco £206, cigars and cigarettes £43, wines £33, goods by weight (o-eneral) £197, and '‘other duties not specified” £36. 'Hie excise duty on beer shows an increase of £2o as compared with excise revenue of July, 1908, representing an increased local brew of 2000 gallons.
