TOLOGA BAY.
(From our own Correspondent.) The toll which xvas to have been imposed at the Tologa Bay bridge on Ist August has been Avarded elf. One half of the amount required was raised by subscription by the Tologa Bay residents, and the other half has been supplied by the Waiapu County Council, much to the delight of those Avho travel over the bridge. A fancy dress ball was held in the Toavix Hall on Thursday last, July 29, m eonnnection Avith the Tologa Bay RoAving Club, amd Avas a great success. The proceeds are to go toAvards paying for the ncAv boats Avlich have lately arrived from Wellington. The coming season promises to be a good one for the aquatic sport. The Rev. Father Ormond made a special trip to Tologa to hid farewell to his many friends here, as he is aboiit to be transferred to Auckland. His 11 o’clock mass was largely attended, and after the benediction in the evening his friends met to give him their best wishes and to express regret that his stay among them had been so short. He Avas presented Avith a purse of sovereigns by Mr. J. Moriarty on behalf of those assembled, as a token of the high esteem in Avhich ho is held.
