MANAWATU RIVERS FALLING

(Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., August 3. The rivers, which rose to the banks last night, are rapidly going down today. The Foxton road is still flooded as well as the railway line to Foxton, along which the passengers-were taken this 1 afternoon by trolley. It us expected that trains will. not. get through for two or three days, as. 60 chains are under Water and there are wash-outs and there is little get away for the water. The Mahawatu Gorge was cleared for traffic for the eight o’clock train this morhing, and no more slips aro reported. The Geach-Marlow Dramatic Company was unablo to play hero last night owing to being blocked by the Gorge slips.
