Dobbie. a former resident of Whangarei, now of Auckland, has given 120 acres at the rear of a native bush tq Whangarei as a scenic reserve. AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS—CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. AUCKLAND, August 3. ’The relatives of the late,Mrs. Horsnell. of Christchurch, who was killed by falling off a tramcar. have lodged a claim for £IOOO damages against the Auckland Electric Tramways Company. The ease will be heard at the Supreme Court.
MR. A. V 7. HOGG—SPEECH AT NAPIER. NAPIER, August 3. Mr. A. W. Hogg, M.P., addressed a large meeting to-night on “Land, Labor, and Money.” At the conclusion of his speech the following resolution was carried without dissent: “That this meeting heartily thanks Air. Hogg for •his address, congratulates him upon resigning as Minister rather than stifle or sacrifice his convictions, and pledges him its support in his advocacy of land nationalisation and other reforms.” A TELEGRAM"tcTtHE PREMIER. WELLINGTON, August 3. In regard to the stranding of the s.s. Himitangi at Foxton, the Marine Department- has decided that no blame is attachable to anyone, and no action' will be taken.
