DROWNING ACCIDENT
[Per P'ikpp association., WHANGAREI. August 3. Edward Mann, aged 29, a farmer, married, with a. family of three children, was engaged loading a punt yesterday. He fell into the Ngunguru river, and was drowned. Tho body has not been recovered. SUDDEN DEATH AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, August 3. A man named Robert Carter Dunn, 70 years of age, residing at Linwood, died suddenly yesterday at the residence of Airs. Restieaux, from whom ho routed a room. He complained of pains in his head at times, and yesterday he shut himself in his room. Mrs. Restieaux knocked at the door about 7.30 p.m., and as she did not receive an answer, she obtained assistance, forced the door, and found him lying dead on the floor. An inquest was held, and a verdict of death from rupture of the intestines was returned. THE MISSING PUBLICAN. PALMERSTON N.. August 3. Search still continues, in the Gorge and river for the missing Ash hurst publican, Mr. Woodard, but Air. H. P. Alortensen, a local resident, informed the 4 ‘Mahawatu Times ' to-night that he was with' Mr. Woodard in Palmerston on Saturday. Air. Woodard had been reported as missing on the previous Thursday and' was believed to be drowned. x FOUND DROWNED. WELLINGTON, August 3. The body of Henry Thompson, oi Petono, was found in the harbor to-day. Ho had been missing since 19th July. He wad a butcher by trade. Tho inquest nvas opened to-day, and adjourned for a post mortem exaruination.
