BOWLING.
TURANGANUI CLUB. Steady progress is being maintained with the improvements to the Turanganui Club’s new green. The contract for the removal and re-erection of the pavilion and the building of an after-noon-tea room is nearing completion. The whole of the necessary fencing has been finished, and already substantial progress has been made with the layingdown of the new green, while the beautifying work is also in progress. A meeting of the committee is to be held on the green to-morrow afternoon to discuss further imorovements, and the question of directing their delegate re the open-door policy suggested in connection with the Northern Bowling Association's tournaments will also be considered. A FINE RECORD.
In connection with the bowling season which has just closed, it is interesting to chronicle a fine record established in pairs matches by Messrs J. Ponsford and lan Simson. During tho season this pair kept a challenge open to all-comers, and, with such success that in 17 matches they were only defeated three times. Once by Messrs T. A. Crawford and J. Coleman, and twice by Messrs F. and J. J. Martin.
