ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A SEAMAN KILLED. (Per Pi •ess xtssociation.) FOXTOX. August 5. Last night a seaman 'belonging to the steamer Moa, named Michael Louis, met with a fatal accident. He was returning on board the vessel alter a day ashore, when he iell over the gangway into the water. He was rescued nithiu two minutes, but his neck was found to be broken. It is supposed he struck the wharf in falling. He was slightly inebriated. A SUSPICION- CASE. WELLINGTON, August 5. An inquest on Harry Thompson, whose body was found in the harbor, was resumed. The medical evidencewas to the effect that there was a wound on deceased’s neck in an unusual position to bo caused by a fall. It was more likely from a blow, which, if severe, would cause unconsciousness. The condition of the bodv showed that deceased was unconscious when the drowning took place. A verdict was returned of death by drowning, and that there was no evidence to show how he got' into the water.
