ASSISTED IMMIGRANTS DUE NEXT 4VEEK.
[Per Pri-ss Association.] WELLINGTON, August 5, Mere assisted immigrant's- will arrive bv the CorinthTe, due here on tho 10th_ of August. There are 150 of them, to say nothing of unassisted third-class passengers. Of the assisted passengers 116 are adults and 35 children. It, is understood that the assisted immigrants who are sent out by the High Comm is-, si oner arc mostly domestic servants. The others were nominated by friends in New Zealand, who hold themselves responsible for the new arrivals not being thrown on the .rates. Nominated passengers (included in the assisted) are represented by 60 adults and 29 children. The occupations of assisted passengers are: 31 domestic servants, 15 farmers, 11 farm laborers, 3 shepherds, and 23 wives and families joining their bread-winners, who are already here. The capital declared by the new arrivals ranges in amount from £25 to £3SO. ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY ARRIVED AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, August 5. Another batch of immigrants, totalling 140, arrived from England by the steamer Devon late last night. Fortyeight of the number are for Auckland, 35° for Wellington, and 2b for Port Chalmers. The new arrivals are cineflj tradesmen, with a few farmers and domestic servants.
