■WELLINGTON, August 6. The New Zealand team of athletes, to compete at the Australasian charnionships at Brisbane this month, left for Australia this evening by the Aloeraki, and were given a hearty send-off by a large crowd of. people. At noon the members of tho team were entertained at lunch, Dr. A. K. Newman, president of the New Zealand Council, presiding. Dr. Newman said he was very pleased to fie present to wish the team success. There was no doubt the team would have been stronger with Orhpll, Murray, Haskins, and Wallace. His own belief, however, was that the team would do extremely well, and lie hoped it would bring back the banner. Later in the day the members of the team had a practice on the Basin Reserve.
