At the Suorerne Court to-day, William McLean, who pleaded guilty to q charge of bigamy, was admitted to probation for 12 months. Andrew Amos, of Blenheim, for indecent assault on a voting -woman, was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and ordered to receive 15 lushes. Mr. Cooper said the case was the worst tnat had ever come before liiin. Janies Reynolds, on a charge of perjury, was admitted to probation for 12 months. Frederick Cyril Ross, on eight cnarges of theft at Feilding, was sentenced to two years on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent.

BURGLARY AT WELLINGTON. The business premises of Henry Droongool, Lambton Quay, wore entered shortly after midnight, and goods valued at £lB stolen. The Agricultural Department has secured ten Holstein heifers and cows from Mr J. C. N. Grigg’s farm at Longbeach, intending to establish a milking strain of that breed at the Wereroa State farm. The animals will he shipped north on Tuesday night. THE HON. R. McKENZIE. DUNEDIN, August 7. The Hon. R. McKenzie journeyed from Ophir to Alexandra and Clyde yesterday.
