THE AUSTRALIAN BUDGET. MR DEAKIN’S ANNOUNCEMENT. United Press Association—Copyright MELBOURNE, August 10. Mr Deakin, Federal Premier, in a speech, stated that the Budget would be the greatest in magnitude and significance yet submitted to the Commonwealth.

Referring to the approaching Premier’s Conference, ho declared that the time for chaffering was gone by, and the timo for agreement, if it be at all possible, had come. The Federal Government would enter the conference prepared for business-like action to settle the greatest business problems of this part of the hemisphere. .

SHIPS TO CARRY WIRELESS INSTALLATIONS. COINAGE BILL PASSED THROUGH COMMITTEE. (Received August 11, 12.55 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 10.

In the Federal House of Representatives, tho Hon. L. E. Groom stated that the Navigation Bill contained a clause compelling vessels to carry wireless installations for the purpose of giving early notice of mishaps. The Coinage Bill has passed through Committee. The decimal system received considerable support, but the House would not have it.
