THE ACTING PREMIER.

TO BE ENTERTAINED IN GISBORNE. The question of arranging a function to publicly congratulate tbs. Minister on his elevation to the position of Acting-Premier was also discussed, and it was decided to hold a grand complimentary social to the Hon. James Carroll in the Garrison Hall on Tuesday evening next. A programme of songs and musical items will be arranged, congratulatory speeches will be made, and the Acting-Premier will be presented with an illuminated address. After the speeches are over, dancing will he indulged in. The social will be a popular one, and with the hope of having the hall crowded, the price of tickets has been fixed at 2s 6d.
