DEPUTATION TO MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS.
IPer Press Association.] GORE, August. 11. A strong deputation of local citizens Avaited on the Minister of Public Works this evening, urging the claims for extension of the Waikaka railway through Moa Flat to Roxburgh and Hedgehope to Gore. ' The Minister said there Avas a railway up every gully in Southland, which, oAving to the topography ol the country, lent itself to easy railway construction. The surveys of these lines had already Jseen made, but lie gave no indication of his opinion. He added that it was a pity that there were no more fertile Southlands distributed over the Dominion. The Minister visits Waikaia and Waikaka to-morrow.
