GISBORNE HIGH SCHOOL.
VISIT OF INSPECTOR-GENERAL
Mr. G. Hogben, M.A., InspectorGeneral of Schools, arrived in Gisborne yesterday to inspect the site on Stanley Road for the new High School. The plans for the new building are well in hand, and the School Governors hope that the specifications will soon be ready, so as to allow tenders to be called > with as little delay as possible. The exchange of the Stanley Road site between the Auckland Education Commissioners and the Governors has practically been agreed to, and in all probability a Bill will be passed during next session of Parliament to give effect thereto. * The Educational Commissioners will, be given a block of land on the Ngatapa settlement, estimated to bring in a rental of £6O per year. The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. T. N. Brodrick), and- Mr. J. Coleman will choose the block to be so reserved. Mr. George Grant is engaged in taking the levels of the Stanley Road site, preparatory to tenders being called for tho erection of the now High School building, and it is hoped everything will be (ready for the school session or 1910 to be commenced in the Stanley lload School. . i Mr. Hogben, upon returning to \\ oiling ton, will report to the Minister 0.l Education (the Hon. G. Fowids) upon the site and the plans for the rie building, and all is practically ready for the work to be pushed ahead. Ihe Inspector-General left for the south by the s.s. Victoria last night.
