OPENING CEREMONY

The new lighthouse on Tuahine Point, AVainui, wilf lie officially opened by the Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. James Carroll, this morning. Thefunction will .be conducted under the rangements made- by the Harbor Board, and drags conveying the Minister, the members of the Harbor Board, the Mayor (Air AY. D. Lysnar), representatives of the various shipping companies and the Press, will leave the Post Office corner at i&a.m. sharp for AVainui, and the opening ceremony will take place at eleven o’clock. It Is expected that the speeches will not lie lengthy, -as the tide will bo well upon the beach before noon. Invited guests are requested to be punctual, as owing to the tides the drags will leave the Post Office sharp to time. Although the lighthouse will be officially opened the light was Gazetted for Monday, August 16th, and cannot be shown at sea until that date. Air Phelps, at AVainui. has been appointed caretaker of the lighthouse.
