FIRES.

TWO SHOPS AT ASHBURTON DESTROYED. (Per Press Association.' ASHBURTON, August 13. Wooden premises occupied by E. Manchester and Co., nlumbers, and Miss Mcßae, dressmaker, together with the stock and plant contained therein, were totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The cause of the fire .is unknown. Mr Manchester was absent. His stock was insured for £SOQ, and the building for .£6OO, both in the Atlas office. Mr Manchester states that at last valuation the .stock was estimated to be worth £750. Miss Mcßae’s stock was insured in the Atlas Office for £3O.
