TOLOGA BAY.
DINNER TO THE FOOTBALL CLUB

On Wednesday evening Mr J. P. M'urphy. entertained the members of the Tologa Bay football team and members of the club at a champagne dinner in his hotel in honor of tlieir winning the Waiapu Cup and Banner for life first time since the formation of the Waiapu sub-union. In all about fifty guests assembled in Mr Murphy’s dining room, which was beautifully arranged. Mr George Williams occupied the chair. After the toast of the King, the Chairman proposed the toast of the Tologa Bay Football Club, and went on to say that this year’s team of the Tologa Club was to be congratulated on their fine performance, as they had for the first time wrested the Cup and Banner away from their Tokomaru friends who had held it since the formation of the Union. Great credit was duo to their Captain, Mr Watchorn, who had led them to victory, and who, he regretted, was not able to ho present' that evening, as that day he had left for Auckland with two other members of their team,. with the PovertyBay representatives. The toast was duly honored and was responded to by Mr W. Lockwood and Mr J. P: Murphy. Numerous other toasts, were proposed amongst which were “The Mcn'ibers of the winning team,” by .Dr Weeks, and “The Waiapu by Mr W. Oates, who gave the history of the Union since its commencement, and congratulated the Tologa team on this year’s victory. Mr Fletcher, proposed the toast of “The Ladies,” and Mr. Colebrook that of the host and hostess. Amongst other speakers were Messrs .3". Thornton, secretary of the Union, A. Glover, P. Calligan, G. King, and J. Eldutou, and a very pleasant evening was spent.
